A crowd of 55 MCBA members and guests gathered February 22 at Embassy Suites to hear James Brosnahan, Senior Counsel at Morrison Foerster, in conversation with President Dorothy Chou Proudfoot. He shared stories from his many decades of trial experience from working in Robert Kennedy’s Justice Department to defending John Walker Lindh, known as the American Taliban. Some of his deeply personal stories drew laughs from the crowd. A member of the National Institute of Trial Attorneys for 45 years, Mr. Brosnahan teaches Persuasion Skills at UC Berkeley Law. In addition to the highlights of his varied cases, he described the key elements to enhance trial advocacy skills.

Reflecting on the turbulent changes brought by the new administration, Mr. Brosnahan compared President Trump to 1950’s era Senator Joseph McCarthy, predicting that he will be impeached by Congress or removed through Section 4 of the 25th Amendment.
